San Antonio is more than mariachi bands (though we love those too). The city’s live music scene is a dynamic mix of genres, venues, and vibes—whether you’re into country, jazz, indie, or conjunto, there’s a stage with your name on it. From historic theaters to back patio jams, music is woven into the rhythm of everyday life here in the Alamo City. 

Start with The Espee, a beautifully restored open-air venue located in the heart of St. Paul Square. Formerly dubbed Sunset Station, this spot hosts touring acts under the stars in a setting that blends history with modern energy. For something more intimate, Jazz, TX at the historic Pearl complex is a must—it’s classy, cozy, and features everything from jazz and blues to salsa and swing, with craft cocktails and bites to match.

If you’re after something more laid-back, Lonesome Rose is a honky-tonk favorite on the St. Mary’s Strip that brings in local and regional acts that churn out danceable country, roots rock, and the occasional surprise guest. On the other end of the spectrum, 1902 Nightclub hosts live DJ sets and pop-up concerts in a stunning historic train station-turned-club, with epic lighting and sound for high-energy nights.

Prefer your tunes with a side of fresh air? Check out Künstler Brewing, where live music meets small-batch craft beer in a relaxed, dog-friendly outdoor space. The Cove is another local staple, known for eco-conscious eats, a family-friendly patio, and a rotating lineup of singer-songwriters and acoustic sets that keep the mood just right.
