Pups hang out at San Antonio's Hops & Hounds.
Pups hang out at San Antonio's Hops & Hounds.

As part of the launch of Culinaria’s new San Antonio Restaurant Weeks website, we’re expanding the way we explore the city—because great experiences don’t happen in a vacuum. These guides are your go-to for making the most of San Antonio in and out of the dining room. Scroll through, get inspired, and start planning your next bite, sip, or stroll.

In San Antonio, your pup doesn’t have to stay home while you’re out having all the fun. From coffee shops and breweries to parks and patios, the city is packed with spots that roll out the welcome mat for pets—and maybe even offer a treat or two. Whether you’ve got a social butterfly or a chill trail companion, there’s a scene for every kind of sidekick.

Start with Phil Hardberger Park, home to one of the city’s best off-leash dog parks and the stunning Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge, where you and your pup can stroll between ecosystems. If you’re in the mood for a more urban adventure, head to Southtown, where pet-friendly patios abound—Blue Star Brewing is a longtime favorite for grabbing a bite and a pint post-walk along the river. Just up South Alamo Street, The Friendly Spot Ice House offers a laid-back vibe and great tacos in outdoor spaces shaded by mature trees.

Need a caffeine boost? Swing by Poetic Republic Coffee on South Flores, where the outdoor patio is dog-friendly, the coffee is strong, and the atmosphere feels like a true local hang. For more of a social scene, Hops & Hounds is a dog-lover’s paradise, with a sprawling outdoor space, food, drinks, and separate areas for big and small dogs to run and play. The Dog Co. also offers size-sorted dog runs, as well as a full bar setup and food truck eats.

Bonus: both Hops & Hounds and The Dog Co. host pup-friendly events and breed meetups on the regular.

Wherever you roam, San Antonio offers plenty of ways to make memories with your furry co-pilot—tails wagging, ears flapping, and all.
